Sembiam

India Pistons began its manufacturing processes in the sprawling 200 acre facility owned by The Amalgamations Group at Huzur Gardens, Sembiam, Chennai. The facility is just an hour drive from Chennai domestic airport and Port. This facility houses IPL's part of Piston Operations, Entire Piston Ring Machining Operations, Centrifugal Casting and Machining Facilities and Administrative functions.

The facilities that are available at this location include

Grey Iron Centrifugal Foundry Aluminum Foundry Laboratory Gudgeon Pin Machine Shop Piston Block and Two Ring Machine Shops Zero Effluent Chrome Plating plant imported from Goetze, Germany commissioned by IPL & the Research & Development Centre. Has facility to manufacture Alfin Inserts / Ring carriers for both captive requirements and Outside customers.

The facility has the production capacity of

• 4 million pistons, 20 million Rings & 1/2 million Liners per annum.
• up to 10 million Alfin Inserts per year.

MM Nagar - IPL Plant - II

The MM Nagar plant is a State of Art Production facility constructed envisaging the growing demands of 2 Wheeler, 3 Wheeler and Industrial Application Pistons. The lines are highly automated integrating LEAN Manufacturing principles. The plant has brought Foundry, Machine Shop & Surface Treatment facility under a Single Roof. The plant can produce pistons from 45 - 120mm diameter for both gasoline & diesel applications. The facility incorporates critical technologies like Online Gauging Facility, Multi Cavity Die Casting and Specially Improved Die Cooling Arrangement which ensures Higher Quality & Production rate. The plant conforms to all Environmental & Safety norms.

Sengundram

This plant produces piston ring blanks to cater to the increased requirement of Individually Cast Double Cam Turned piston rings subsequent to the shift from the centrifugally cast heat formed route. Capacity of the plant is 30 million Ring Blanks p.a. IPL has now diversified into other Grey Iron castings such as Valve plates, Valve seats etc.The factory space is over 5000 sq meters and the design accommodates four contemporary molding lines supplied by Goetze, Burscheid. The Twin Crucible Dual Track Furnace that generates the molten metal makes it possible to simultaneously process two types of material specifications to feed two different molding lines.

Hosur

The unit was commissioned to meet the growing demand for IPL products in the domestic and international market. This sophisticated facility has all the modern machineries and conforms to all the environmental norms.

Rudrapur

The Rudrapur Plant is one of recently erected plants. It is constructed with a view to meet the growing demands of our present and future customers Facility is equipped for Cylinder liner machining exclusively for Auto majors like M&M, Ashok Leyland and TATA Motors. In addition, there is a facility to supply power train products like piston and piston rings duly assembled for the same OEM's including Tata Motors. It has a capacity to produce 25,000 liners a month and has facilities like Plateau honing, OD grinding, Laser marking and phosphating. It is also equipped with full inspection facilities including crack detection, Kosaka contour checking, and surface roughness checking as well as Hatch pattern angle checking instruments. It is also backed up with a power generator to take care of power requirement.. It is a modern facility which takes into consideration all the environmental norms.
